#SIP&SLURP: Smoothie Cubes & Super Green Juice

After a long and treacherous* winter (*by Australian-standard), the weather is supposedly getting warming going into spring/summer here, which means a few things. People will be progressively posting up photos of their #fitspiration morning jogs, followed by trips to the beach as they partake in a dedicated and/or heavily weighted juice-cleanse. Here at UNEATENMATTERS, we aim to please, so here are 2 of our favourite smoothie/juice recipes that not only helps you consume those punnets of ripe fruits & greens, but also makes you seem like a hip, healthy hipster from Bondi.

Fresh produce (fruit & vegetables) makes up a shocking 33% of household food waste, so keep in mind that these are just TWO alternatives to the FRUITFUL combinations of smoothies/juices you can make! Just add/subtract ingredients based on whatever you have in your fridge and to your liking! No one but your own self is stopping you from substituting that yoghurt for ice-cream (we don’t judge – as long as you’re not wasting any food).

Smoothie Cubes

What’s better than drinking a smoothie? Sucking on smoothie ice cube! 😉 Plus, you can’t deny how cute it looks on an instagram post (ADD 5 hipster respect points).

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Passionfruit yogurt
  • Coconut water
  • Mango
  • Strawberry
  • Lemon zest
  • Blender & ice tray

You know the drill – chuck em into the blender, pour it into the ice tray, freeze and enjoy!

Simple Green Juice

You can’t go wrong with a simple green juice refresher! Don’t be turned off by the colour, we promise that it actually does taste better than you imagine (ie: NOT like straight-out grass) I also quite like to throw in some kale or substitute the orange for apple if I have that lying around in the fridge!

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • Spinach
  • Orange/orange juice
  • Squeeze of Lemon/Lime

JUICE IT UP!

Remember to tag us in your photos if you choose to embark on a however long #cleaneating juice cleanse (even if its only for a day) and don’t forget to take our anti-food waste pledge if you haven’t already!

    1. Thanks Vic! we do love a good iceblocks where you slice whole fruits and add it in! We’ve made a blog post on recipes to ripen your fruit game so check it out if you’re interested: http://wp.me/p6GVLl-7t. One of my summer favs is nice cream – so easy and tasty to make!
